Market Recap

XAUUSD
XAUUSD opened the 13 Jul session at 4090.36 and printed the high almost immediately at 4103.5 at 01:01, briefly trading above the 4100 handle, before rotating lower. The low came late at 19:55 at 3986.63, setting a five-day low, and the market closed at 4001.93. That left the day down 88.43 points, or -2.16%, on an intraday range of 116.87 points, equivalent to 2.86% of the opening price. The close sat near the bottom of the range, about 15.3 points above the session low, after a sub-4000 print and a subsequent lift back above the round level into the finish. The structure featured an early high within the first minutes and a low established later in the session, so price traversed the 4000–4100 band in both directions before settling just above 4000. On higher timeframes, daily indicators showed RSI14 at 50.61, the MACD signal line at -81.86, and the upper Bollinger band at 4254.5. On the hourly timeframe, RSI14 registered 29.81 during the session. The day’s range accounted for 2.86% of the open by the provided measure, with no daily ATR comparison available. By the close, XAUUSD remained positioned near session lows after testing above 4100 early and printing below 4000 later, leaving the finish clustered toward the lower end of the day’s distribution.

EURUSD
EURUSD closed the session at 1.14, down 0.0021 (-0.19%) from the open, after traversing a 0.0069 range that equated to 0.6% of the opening level. The pair opened at 1.14 and advanced into late morning, printing the session high around 1.14 at 11:18, before reversing lower and setting the day’s low near 1.14 at 23:24. The finish was close to the bottom of the day’s range, with trading revolving around the 1.14 figure through much of the period before slipping into late trade. Intraday structure featured an early lift, a midday peak, and a progressive decline into the close, with no retest of the morning high after the European morning move. The session registered a 5-day low on the late dip. On higher timeframes, the H4 50-period simple moving average sat near 1.14; the intraday high traded above that reference, while the close was below the H1 21-period exponential moving average around 1.14. Momentum readings were subdued, with H4 RSI at 34.6 and H1 RSI at 24.7, and the H4 MACD signal line approximately at zero. By the close, price was positioned near the session low and below the short-term H1 EMA marker, while the morning peak remained the only test above the H4 50-SMA. No daily ATR comparison or tick volume metrics were available. Overall, the day delivered a narrow percentage move with a late-session low and a close near the trough.

Economic Calendar Recap & Preview

No major economic data was released. Looking ahead, at 11:45 server time, BoE Governor Bailey speaks, an appearance that could color market views on the Bank’s policy path. The main event is the US inflation report at 15:30: headline CPI month over month is expected at 0.5, unchanged from 0.5 previously; core CPI month over month is seen holding at 0.2 after 0.2; the CPI year over year rate is forecast to slow to 3.8 from 4.2. Market participants will parse the breakdown for shelter, services, and goods to gauge underlying pressures. A higher-than-forecast CPI would typically bolster expectations for tighter policy. Given the profile of this release, short-term rates, Treasuries, and the dollar may see elevated volatility around the print.
